The IT industry develops computer solutions that help businesses and individuals become more successful in their work. IT professionals serve customers in all types of business. They could be developing software or websites, helping companies set up new systems, or training people to use their IT facilities.

This 12 month Apprenticeship offers a practical approach and a solid platform for anyone wishing to train as an IT Professional. As an Apprentice you will hold a full time job for four days per week and attend college one day a week throughout the programme. You will work towards a framework of qualifications which make up the Apprenticeship.

  • About the Course

    The Level 2 ICT Apprenticeship is divided into two different qualifications.

    At college you will do the technical certificate which comprises of the following

    • Communicating in the IT industry
    • Working in the IT industry
    • Setting up an IT network
    • IT fault diagnosis and remedy
    You will do the following units at work:
    • Technical advice and guidance
    • Technical fault diagnosis
    • Testing ICT systems
    • Work with ICT hardware equipment
    • Software installation and upgrade

    You will also complete courses in:

    • Personal learning and thinking skills
    • Maths functional skills level 1
    • English functional skills level 1
    • Employment rights and responsibilities.
  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSE passes at grades A*-D including English and maths are required.

  • Progression

    At the end of the course you can progress to Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals.
