You will make music with computers, record, compose and perform both individually and in groups. You will learn about the business, composing and sound recording, sequencing, microphone techniques and do a production project. The course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at A*-C and provides a good basis to go on to further qualifications.

  • About the Course

Working both individually and as a member of a group, you will take part in a variety of practical work, making music with computers, recording, composing and performing.

    You will study:

    • Exploring the music profession

    • Recording
    • Development of music
    • Exploring computer systems

  • Progression

Level 3 Diploma in Contemporary Music (Performance and Technology) if you achieve a merit or distinction. Because this is an introductory course, it will not normally lead directly into professional music work.

  • Assessment Method

Assessment is through assignment based work. The emphasis is on practical performance, although there is a certain amount of written work required to support this. The work is graded into pass, merit and distinction. In order to achieve the qualification you will need to pass all areas of the course.
