West Thames College is managed by its Principal and team of senior managers, who report to a Governing Board. The Board is made up of sixteen Members, including people who hold key roles in business, the professions and the local community, all of whom give their time voluntarily. Two Members are elected by staff and two by students.
The Board’s responsibilities range from shaping the academic direction of the college and ensuring its financial health, to developing the campus to meet future needs.
The full Board usually meets eight times a year, in the evening, with one full day set aside for strategic planning. Detailed work is carried out in sub-groups, such as the Audit Committee and the Community Advisory Group. Members normally serve on at least one such group.
Our Board Members help change lives with their contribution to the work of the college. The role is voluntary, but has professional benefits for individuals. Members gain board room experience at the highest level – a useful addition to their CVs and career development.
For further information on governance issues or on becoming a Board Member, please email Jon Allen, Clerk to the Board.
