Sports Massage - VTCT Diploma

This course, based in our Isleworth salons, teaches sports massage through specific massage techniques, the use of ice and heat, remedial exercise and a range of stretches.

Who is This Course For?
Students who wish to develop their professional massage skills in the treatment of sports related injuries.
Entry Requirements
You must already hold the ITEC or VTCT Advanced Massage Diploma or equivalent. You should have a good general education with good interpersonal skills and personal presentation, life experience and portfolio evidence.
About the course

The course encompasses specific massage techniques, the use of ice and heat as well as remedial exercise and a range of stretches. Theoretical subjects will provide the knowledge needed to carry out your practical work. The course will give you the chance to work individually or as part of a team.

Subjects studied include:

  • Anatomy and physiology with special emphasis on muscles, especially origin, insertion and action
  • Massage: specific techniques for sports (pre event, post event, remedial) as well as stretches (MET, PNF)
  • The changes that occur during exercise to the muscular and other systems
  • Common sporting injuries and how to treat them
  • Contra-indications
  • Principles of injury prevention and management.

Whilst in class you will be expected to wear smart blue/black tracksuit bottoms, a white polo shirt, and white non-slip shoes.

In addition to the course fee and salon charge (if applicable), you will need to purchase a textbook (approx £16). These costs may be subject to change.

You will be continually assessed through practical and written assessments.
