Beauty Specialist - VTCT Advanced Diploma (evening)

This 2-year intensive evening course will enable you to work as a beauty therapist in the popular beauty industry. You will study body massage, electrical body treatments with diet and exercise advice, body wraps, advanced electrical facial treatments, client handling and related anatomy.

Fees:

£385 (for courses starting in September 2010). In addition to course fees, you will pay a £50 college registration fee and £105 approx exam fee, and you will need to purchase a textbook (£70), beauty uniform and kit. These costs may be subject to change.

Who is This Course For?
Level 2 qualified beauty therapists who wish to offer Level 3 treatments to their clients.
Entry Requirements

You should hold a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy with a good educational background and good written English. Good written English is essential in order to complete assignments and theory tests. You must be highly motivated and able to practice your treatments at home. We recommend that you spend at least 3 hours of home study per week in order to successfully achieve this qualification.

About the course

You will study the following subjects:

  • Body massage
  • Electrical body treatments with diet and exercise advice
  • Electrical epilation
  • Aromatherapy with pre-blended oils 
  • Advanced electrical facial treatments
  • Client handling and related anatomy.
Additional Opportunities
You will have the opportunity to visit a major beauty and nails exhibition and trade fair held annually in London. This will incur an additional cost.
How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by means of the following:

  • Assignments: You will need to complete a range of assignments at home which will be handed to your tutor for marking.
  • Tests: Multiple choice theory examinations for the manicure/pedicure unit, and the business awareness unit
  • Practical assessments: You will need to perform a range of treatments for assessment.
Where next?
When you successfully complete this course you may go on to other part time or full time beauty therapy and hairdressing courses at West Thames College, into employment in a salon, or become self-employed.
