Business - Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate or Diploma

This practical, work-related course will enable you to learn about business, customer relations and financial control. You will also study specialist units such as personal selling, online business and administrative support. The course is equivalent to 2 or 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C and provides a good basis to progress to further qualifications.

Mode: Full-time

Timetable: This is a full-time course. You will attend college for three to five days per week, Monday to Friday, usually between 9am and 5pm. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

Start Date: 6 September 2010

Fees:

Home fee for 2010-11 £1265. In addition to the course fee, you will also need to pay an exam fee and materials charge.

Entry Requirements

You should usually have 2 or more GCSEs at Grade D or above or a Merit or Distinction in a relevant subject at Level 1.

About the course

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will focus on a particular area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge.

The course is made up of 6 units: 3 core units and 3 specialist units.

All students take the 3 core units:

  • Exploring business
  • Developing customer relations
  • Investigating financial control.

You will also take 3 specialist units, such as:

  • Personal selling
  • Online business
  • Providing business and administrative support.
Additional Opportunities
There is the possibility of trips and visits relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by means of assignments which are graded, and you will also receive an overall grade for the qualification.
Where next?
The Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate or Diploma provides a good grounding for further study, such as the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, or employment in a business environment.
