Business - BTEC Level 2 Diploma

This practical, work-related course will enable you to learn about business, customer relations and financial control. You will also study specialist units such as personal selling, online business and administrative support. The course is equivalent to 2 or 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C and provides a good basis to progress to further qualifications.

Timetable: This is a full time programme of study of under 16 hours per week. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

*HF+* including tuition and exam fees. Students aged 19+ will pay college registration and materials fees.

The course may be free if you are:

  • aged under 19
  • aged 19+ and in receipt of an active benefit (eg JSA or ESA)
  • aged 19+, unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit (eg income support), and you are doing this course to improve your employment prospects
  • aged 19-23 and don't already have a Level 2 qualification.

Entry requirements

About the course

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will focus on a particular area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge.

The course is a 60-credit qualification.

All students take the 4 mandatory units:

  • Business purposes
  • Business organisations
  • Financial forecasting
  • People in organisations.

You will also take specialist units, such as:

  • Starting a small business
  • Business online
  • Customer relations in business
  • Business communications.
Additional opportunities
You will go on trips and visits relevant to your study and have a 2-week work experience placement.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by means of assignments which are graded, and you will also receive an overall grade for the qualification.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business and Administration, or employment in a business environment.
