Qualification: BTEC NVQ Level 2 Retail Skills

Level: Level 2

Mode: Full-time

Timetable: This is a full-time course. You will attend college for three to five days per week, Monday to Friday, usually between 9am and 5pm. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

Who is This Course For?
People who are working in the retail sector who wish to gain recognition of their skills and abilities, students who are progressing from an NVQ Level 1, or those who wish to demonstrate competence in retailing or related industries.
Entry Requirements
You should usually have 2 or more GCSEs at grade D or above or a Merit or Distinction in a relevant subject at Level 1. We may consider applications from students with an NVQ Level 1.
About the course

The course consists of 1 mandatory unit and 5 optional units.

Mandatory units include:

  • How to work effectively in a team.

You will also study 5 optional units from a range which may include:

  • Customer service
  • Finance
  • Administration
  • Stock management.
Additional Opportunities
There is the possibility of trips and visits relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is competence based, which means it is linked to your ability to perform a range of tasks connected with your work. You will plan a programme of development with your assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that you are competent and knowledgeable in your work role. Assessment is continuous throughout the course.
Where next?
You can find employment in a retail environment and go on to study NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate subject alongside your job. If you gain a Merit or Distinction you can progress to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business.
