Qualification: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

Mode: Full-time

Timetable: This is a full time programme of study of under 16 hours per week. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

Start Date: September 2013

At least 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including maths and English language or the BTEC Level 2 Diploma with a merit (or equivalent) including functional skills in English and maths. You will take an aptitude assessment to establish your suitability for the course. Acceptance onto the course is conditional on meeting the following criteria: entry qualifications, interview, and aptitude assessment.

You will study common core units in Year 1 including:

• Communication and employability skills for IT
• Computer systems
• Information systems
• IT systems analysis and design
• Principles of software design and development
• Maintaining computer systems
• Computer networks.

In the second year you will specialise in software development, studying:

• Event driven programming
• Project planning with IT
• Website production and management
• Digital graphics and computers
• Client side customisation of web pages
• Web server scripting
• Computer game platforms and technologies
• Computer game design.

You can gain professional Cisco and Microsoft qualifications for an additional fee.

This course consists of the 90-credit Diploma in Year 1 followed by the Extended Diploma in Year 2.
