Mode: Full-time

Timetable: This is a full-time course. You will attend college for three to five days per week, Monday to Friday, usually between 9am and 5pm. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

Fees:

Home fee for 2010-11 £1235. In addition to your course fee, you will also need to pay a college registration fee, exam fee and materials charge, and purchase a kit.

Who is This Course For?
Students with an interest in bricklaying who wish to go on to a career in this field.
Entry Requirements
For the Foundation level you should have at least 2 GCSEs at grade E or above, including Maths and English or the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction with a Merit or Distinction. You will have an interview and an initial assessment. For the Intermediate level, you must have successfully completed the Foundation level.
About the course
The course is based in our specialist bricklaying workshop, where you will study all aspects of bricklaying using different types of brick and block. You will build half-brick walls, solid walls, cavity walls and foundation work, and you will study craft-related theory.
Additional Opportunities
There may be an opportunity to visit other sites and trade shows, such as the Building Exhibition.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through a combination of practical projects, written assignments and written tests. You will also have to complete a phase test and two multi-choice papers and provide work-based evidence.
Where next?
The course provides a good grounding for you to progress to a Level 3 course or start work.
