Apprenticeship in Care - NVQ Level 2
This apprenticeship is for people already working or looking for work in health and care. It gives you the opportunity to earn money as you train, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and improve your career prospects. You will be assessed on and off the job and training is free - there's usually no cost to you or your employer.

- Who is This Course For?
- Care staff working directly with service users in a care setting, or those looking for work in this field.
- Entry Requirements
- You should be 16-24 years old and working or looking for work in health and care. You should usually have 2 or more GCSEs at grade D or above, or an equivalent Level 1 qualification. You will need to have a CRB check before enrolling on this course.
- About the course
The course consists of 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units. Mandatory units include:
- Communicate with and complete records for individuals
- Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
- Develop your own knowledge and practice
- Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals.
You will choose 2 optional units from a range which may include:
- Carry out and provide feedback on specific plan of care activities
- Support individuals to access and use information
- Help individuals to eat and drink
- Support individuals with their personal care needs
- Contribute to moving and handling individuals.
- How will I be assessed?
- You will work with an assessor who will observe your practice within your work setting. You will provide a range of different evidence to show that you have knowledge and practical competence. Your assessor will judge the evidence against national standards.

- You can progress in your job or go on to another course, such as an NVQ Level 3.
