Skills Builder - Adult Life Skills

This course is for students who would benefit from learning in a small group in a supportive environment. Students will learn about their community and build up confidence towards independent living and skills for life.

Qualification: Edexcel City & Guilds Entry 1 and PSD qualifications

Level: Entry Level 1

Mode: Full-time

Timetable: This is a full time programme of study of under 16 hours per week. You will receive your timetable when you enrol.

Start Date: September 2013

Fees:

Home fee for 2012-13 £35. This course may be free if you are aged under 19 or in receipt of an active benefit (e.g. JSA and ESA). Please see our Fees and Concessions page or call 020 8326 2015 for further details.

Who is this course for?
Young people with learning disabilities who would benefit from learning in small groups in a supportive environment.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. Applicants will have an informal interview to determine their suitability for the course.
About the course

Students on this course will:

  • Learn about their community
  • Build up confidence towards independent living and skills for life
  • Improve basic skills and gain a City & Guilds numeracy and literacy qualification
  • Develop creative and IT skills
  • Gain an Edexcel qualification in personal and social development
  • Gain enterprise skills in the college's cafe business.

Work experience plays an important part in the course.

Additional opportunities
Supported learning courses have a varied and stimulating enrichment programme, including local visits using public transport, sport and social opportunities, and a coffee shop run by supported learning students.
Where next?
Students may move on to Skills for Working Life courses or supported employment.
