Cake Sale Raises Tasty Sum for Charity

School link students from Rivers Academy helped raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on Thursday 19 April with a delicious cake sale in the college Atrium. The five students, who study a business course at West Thames once a fortnight, arranged the sale as part of a class project and were assisted by lecturers Brenda Horan and Myriam Ferreira.
The students calculated costs and profit, researched food hygiene and safety, decorated the cakes and even organised the stand’s set-up and advertising. Student Charlene Cheeseman (pictured, above) won £20 of vouchers for her poster design.
