On Tuesday 20 October, West Thames College threw a lavish Pirates of the Caribbean themed celebration, welcoming new Higher Education students to the campus in style. The Winter Gardens, located in the historic Spring Grove House, was transformed in to a pirate themed arena complete with pirate ship, a ‘karaoke plank’, cannons, a mystical black cave and a hidden treasure chest.
The students and HE staff, many of whom dressed in suitably extravagant outfits, enjoyed free food and drink and made full use of the karaoke machine – braving the plank to show-off their fantastic performance skills!
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who helped make this event a great success,” said Frank Lilford, Head of Student Services and Recreation. “It was great to see our HE students enjoying themselves and settling in well for their new academic year.”
