The Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care have been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding essential to the health and social care sector to support progression to further learning or the workplace . An A*-C grade in the Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 and provides a good basis to go on to further qualifications, such as the CACHE Level 3 extended Diploma in Health and Social care. Work experience forms a mandatory part of the course .

Entry Requirements
2 or more GCSEs at grade D / grade 3 or above including English language or Level 1 Functional Skills English, or successful completion of a Foundation Level course with functional skills in English and maths. All students must undertake work experience in a care/childcare setting as part of this course. Work placement settings require students to obtain a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) enhanced check to demonstrate that they are suitable to work with vulnerable people and/or children.

Progression
You may progress to the Level 3 Certiifcate in Health and Social Care if you achieve A*-C and ideally Functional Skills Level 2 in English, or you may wish to do apprenticeship.
This qualification does not provide a licence to practise, but may support progression into a range of job roles in the health and care sector including:
- Care support workers in adult residential settings
- Healthcare assistants in community, primary care and acute health environments
- Care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or day services
- Community-based support workers.

Throughout the year you will be given written assignments for each unit and work placement reports.
