This course includes theory and practice and is designed as a starting point for those seeking to become trained electricians.
Foundation Learning courses are designed to give you the skills to progress to Level 2. This course is for students whose first language is not English and is ideal for those progressing from an ESOL 16-18 course.

About the Course
On the Electrical qualification you will study:
- Wiring and terminals
- Fabrication techniques
- Electrical science and technology.
There are also four other subjects which are covered in the qualification -
- Structure of the construction industry
- Environmental measures in domestic dwellings
- Sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
- Site preparation in the construction industry.

Entry Requirements
Applicants with no GCSE passes (or equivalent) or those not studying towards GCSEs will be offered a place on our Level 1 provision. To study on this programme students will need to demonstrate an ability to achieve Level 1 English and maths by the end of the course. This provision is appropriate for applicants with additional support needs and/or an EHCP.
Next move - Depending on level achieved, progress onto a Level 2 course, an Apprenticeship or employment.

Progression
This qualification can lead to progression to Level 2 Electrical Installation or Level 2 Engineering.

Assessment Method
Candidates must successfully complete one assignment for each unit that is set by City & Guilds and assessed by your lecturer. There is also a practical assignment at the end of the course.
