For school leavers who want to learn skills for a range of careers in construction.
Foundation Learning courses are designed to give you the skills to progress to Level 2. This course is for students whose first language is not English and is ideal for those progressing from an ESOL 16-18 course.

About the Course
You will learn practical skills in brickwork, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, electrical installation and construction drawing.
The course has been designed to give you a basic awareness of working in construction and a good understanding of health and safety in construction. It focuses on practical work, although there will also be sessions in the classroom. You will learn about timber products, joinery and plumbing skills, health and safety and welfare, painting skills, construction drawing and electrical installation.
You will also study functional skills in English and maths.

Entry Requirements
Applicants with no GCSE passes (or equivalent) or those not studying towards GCSEs will be offered a place on our Level 1 provision. To study on this programme students will need to demonstrate an ability to achieve Level 1 English and maths by the end of the course. This provision is appropriate for applicants with additional support needs and/or an EHCP.
Next move - Depending on level achieved, progress onto a Level 2 course, an Apprenticeship or employment.

You may progress to a Level 2 course or intermediate apprenticeship, or into employment in the construction sector.
