This two-year practical course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and has been developed to provide you with all the essential skills that a music performer or music producer needs.

About the Course
This highly practical course aims to develop your music performance and production skills, enabling you to develop a successful career in music. You will be based in our brand new Music and Media Centre using the latest digital equipment.
As a performerYou will use the latest digital equipment to practice and perform many styles of contemporary music. You will learn about performance techniques and stage craft, performing in ensembles and as a soloist, and song writing. You will perform at events in and out of the college including our Creative Arts festival and Oxjam.
As a Music producer/sound engineer: You will use the latest music software packages such as Logic X Pro, Protools and Reason. You will learn sequencing, mixing, mastering, sound recording, music composition and how to set up and sound engineer a live music event. You will produce a portfolio including an album, film scores, sound design for film and take part in live performance with a technical or performance role.

Entry Requirements
Applicants for level 3 - advanced courses should have at least four GCSEs at grade A*-C/9-4, including at least one in GCSE English or maths at grade 4 or above, or a relevant level 2 vocational qualification, at merit or distinction (where grades are awarded).
Next move - Higher education at college or university or a job.

Progression
A HND or a university degree in music performance, music production, sound engineering, music management or live events management. You can also seek employment in the music industry as a session musician or music producer and assistant engineer or work at a record label.
