About the Course
Career Kickstart is a programme designed to support young people in preparing for progression to a supported internship. This course acts as a pre-supported internship, following a similar pathway toour successful Project SEARCH programmes at West Thames College, such as those delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow and the Sheraton Skyline London Heathrow Hotel.Students work towards a City & Guilds Award in Employability Skills, gain hands-on experience in our Tesco-branded stationery shop, and complete additional work experience placements within thelocal community.
Alongside practical experience, students study employability skills, personal and social development, and preparation for progression into a supported internship or apprenticeship. Course content isadapted to meet individual needs, with a strong emphasis on communication, numeracy, interpersonal skills, decision-making, and problem-solving.
Each student is supported by a dedicated personal tutor, and careful planning ensures that the programme reflects their interests, strengths, and aspirations. The course provides a structured, supportiveenvironment to help learners build confidence, independence, and workplace readiness.
