This flexible course is for young people with an education health care plan, EHCP. Curriculum is based on 3 vocational pathways. Applications for a place in Supported Learning require the young person to be in receipt of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You cannot apply online or directly to the college. A consultation must come from your Local Authority and on receipt of this a member of the Supported Learning team will contact you directly.

We provide a range of specialised facilities and resources to enhance our students' learning experiences, including:

  • Sensory rooms and immersive learning environments
  • Accessible outdoor learning areas and gardens
  • Highly trained staff, including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists

  • About the Course

    Students are encouraged to develop communication, numeracy and interpersonal skills, decision making and problem solving abilities. They will study vocational subjects including, gardening and horticulture, catering and business administration.

    • Courses run over a 3-day week – 9am to 3.20pm
    • 7 hours vocational study, 2 hours each of English and maths, 2 hours tutorial, 2 hours enrichment
    • Accreditation is with BTEC and City & Guilds
    • BTEC Units: Preparing a Meal for Yourself, Producing a Product and Engaging in a Team Activity

  • Progression

    Progression pathways will be discussed in the annual review of the EHCP, some options may include progression to Skills Builder Entry 2.

  • Assessment Method

    Students will be assessed according to awarding body guidelines. Assessment is a mutual process. The student and tutor will work together to set learning targets.
