In order to support causes close to their heart and raise money for their department, Supported Learning has come up with a well-thought-out enterprise that includes several initiatives:

Charity Shop:
A charity shop has been set up in the Atrium supporting a charity called Mapomboli (Blessing), which is based in Congo R.D.C. Students and staff across the department have donated items from home such as clothing, shoes and even video games!

Lunch Club:
At Lunch Club the students learn new skills while preparing food and selling it to raise money for their end-of-year trip. Meal Deals are on offer with a tasty selection of sandwiches and paninis. The money raised is also used to buy ingredients so that Lunch Club can go ahead!

Stationary Club:

This club teaches students how to buy and sell stationary and run a business. They also learn important money management skills and learn how to receive and give the right change back to their customers.

A staggering £400 has already been raised in less than a week by the enterprise.

The money raised from Lunch Club is going towards trips and buying ingredients for the continuation of Lunch Club.
The enrichment activities include trips to places like Sky Studios, Lords Cricket ground, Kew Gardens but most importantly wherever the students would like to go.

“It's amazing to witness the growth and increased confidence of the students as they take on responsibilities and learn new skills through the enterprise. From something as simple as giving back the correct change to safely making a cheese toasty, each step they take is valuable and contributes to their development” Shelby Styles-Graham – Teaching Support

“The motive of the initiative is not just to raise money for the department, but also to make the students engaged and more independent. By exposing the students to the work environment and teaching them important skills like money management, the enterprise plan aims to empower the students.” Shazia Khan - Lecturer in Supported Learning

“The social action activities such as the Lunch Club and regular Jumble Sales fosters a sense of belonging and community among students. Group activities are designed to encourage interaction and collaboration, promoting social skills and communication among students, whilst incorporating practical activities that focus on developing essential life skills relating to daily living, social interaction, and vocational skills, tailored to each student's developmental level” Jane Pendrey - CQTM in Supported Learning & Foundation Learning
