On Saturday 2nd December, West Thames College hosted a group of small local businesses for a roundtable event to celebrate Small Business Saturday. The event was organised and led by Seema Malhotra MP for Feltham and Heston and Shadow Skills Minister, in conjunction with The Edge Foundation.

We were delighted to be able to hold this event at our Skills + Logistics Centre in Feltham and we were joined by the leader of Hounslow Council (Shantanu Rajawat) alongside other Hounslow councillors and a range of local small businesses from different sectors including IT, hair and beauty, social care and printing services. All parties were enormously interested in the future of our young people and shared a real willingness to be part of the support system to ensure success.

The morning kicked off with a tour of the Skills + Logistics Centre, showcasing our offer, with very positive feedback from attendees. The roundtable discussion was a great opportunity for the College to strengthen links with local businesses, and to help better understand their needs, and the barriers they face in finding and retaining local talent. We look forward to strengthening these valuable links with our partners and local businesses going forward.
