Entry Requirements
If you already have GCSE grade D / 3 or Level 2 Functional Skills certificate in maths, you will be able to enrol on this course. However, we know that many learners will not have these qualifications, but this will not prevent you from joining our GCSE Adult courses. If you do not have the above qualification, you will sit an initial assessment (online and paper-based) to check if this is the right course for you.

Progression
Your GCSE qualification will improve your employment prospects and will help you apply to university and other higher level courses where GCSEs are an entry pre-requisite.
-
Assessment Method
There will be an external assessment comprising three papers. The papers are tiered into either Foundation Tier (grades 5-1 equivalent of grades C-G) or Higher Tier (grades 6-9 equivalent of grades A*-D available). Each paper lasts for 1 hour and 30 minutes and is marked out of 80, Maximum Mark 240. On paper 1 you will not be allowed to use a calculator, but you can use a calculator for paper 2 and 3.

Access to Nursing
"I am in my third year of midwifery training. It has been a challenging journey but with amazing experiences too and I look forward to practicing as a qualified midwife next year. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support and encouragement from West Thames."
