Essam, a Business Level 3 Year 2 student at West Thames College, has made an excellent start to his external work placement at GSK’s London head office.

Essam recently began his placement with the global pharmaceutical company, where he will be working until the end of May. On his first day, he was warmly welcomed by GSK’s HR team, including the Head of Inclusion, before being introduced to members of staff and shown around the office.

After signing in at reception, Essam received his schedule for the day, collected his laptop, and was shown the area where he will be based during his placement. He was then given a full tour of the building and quickly settled into the professional environment.

Throughout the day, Essam demonstrated confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism, making a very positive first impression on the team. He was fully engaged in the experience and clearly excited about the opportunity to gain valuable workplace skills within a leading international company.

GSK has supported West Thames College learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for the past 12 years, providing meaningful workplace opportunities that many students may not otherwise have access to. This long-standing partnership continues to play an important role in helping learners build confidence, develop employability skills, and gain real-world experience in professional settings.

We wish Essam every success for the remainder of his placement and look forward to hearing more about his experience at GSK.
