Pride, applause and celebration filled the room on Thursday 11 June as West Thames College honoured its Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates at the 2026 Higher Education Graduation Ceremony. Surrounded by family, friends and tutors, students came together to celebrate the culmination of years of hard work, determination and achievement.
Hosted by Assistant Principal Katrin Lehmann and College Governor Bruce Armstrong, the ceremony brought together graduates, tutors, family and friends to recognise the hard work, determination and resilience that had brought students to this important milestone.

As graduates crossed the stage to receive their awards, Katrin reflected on the commitment they had shown throughout their studies and acknowledged those who had supported them along the way.
“As you cross the stage today to receive your award, you have every right to feel proud. This achievement belongs not only to you, but also to the family and friends who believed in you, supported you through every challenge, and encouraged you throughout your journey.”

The celebration was particularly significant following the College’s Ofsted Outstanding rating last year, with graduates becoming part of a success story built on high expectations, ambition and achievement. Their accomplishments reflect both their personal dedication and the supportive learning environment that helped them thrive.
Each graduate was warmly applauded as they received their certificate from their tutors, creating a memorable atmosphere of pride and celebration throughout the evening.

Addressing the graduating class, Bruce Armstrong spoke about the lasting value of their qualification and their ongoing connection to the College.
“The qualification you receive today is yours for life. Wherever your future takes you, remember that West Thames College will always be part of your story—ready with advice, encouragement, and a warm welcome. Congratulations, and every good wish for the future.”

The evening offered an opportunity to reflect on the challenges overcome, the knowledge gained and the friendships formed along the way. Whether progressing into employment, continuing their studies or pursuing entrepreneurial ambitions, graduates leave with the confidence and skills to take their next steps.
As the celebrations came to a close, there was a strong sense of optimism for the future. We are immensely proud of everything our graduates have achieved and look forward to seeing the positive contributions they will make in their careers, communities and industries.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We wish you every success in the exciting journey ahead.
