West Thames College has proudly named Ishmeet as its first-ever Graduate of the Year, marking a significant milestone in the College's history.
The newly introduced award recognises a student who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership and contribution to college life. Ishmeet was selected in recognition of her remarkable journey, outstanding commitment and positive impact on the College community.
Since joining West Thames College in 2023 on the Level 1 ESOL programme, Ishmeet has shown extraordinary determination and ambition. Through hard work and perseverance, she progressed to study on the Level 4 Business Administration course, demonstrating a commitment to personal and academic development at every stage of her journey.
Alongside her studies, Ishmeet has played an active role in college life. She currently serves as Student Union President, Student Ambassador and Class Representative, where she has consistently demonstrated leadership, professionalism and a genuine commitment to supporting fellow students.
One of her most notable achievements was helping to lead the College's recent Esports event. From developing the initial concept through to planning, promotion and delivery, Ishmeet played a central role in ensuring the event's success and creating an engaging experience for students.
Throughout her time at the College, Ishmeet has built strong relationships with both staff and students, earning a reputation for her reliability, positive attitude and willingness to help others. Her coursework has consistently been completed to a high standard and submitted on time, reflecting the strong organisational and time-management skills she has developed during her studies.
Over the years, she has also gained valuable skills in research, presentation, communication and project management, all of which will support her future ambitions. Following her success at West Thames College, Ishmeet has secured offers to study Law at both the University of Westminster and Buckinghamshire New University.
The Business team nominated Ishmeet for the award in recognition of her exceptional progress, academic dedication and significant contribution to the wider College community.
As the first recipient of the Graduate of the Year Award, Ishmeet has set a high standard for future graduates and serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through determination, hard work and active engagement in college life.
