Do you want to update your skills and improve your job prospects? Our part-time and evening courses are for adults who want to return to work or study. If you are in work and want more training and a recognised qualification, talk to us about apprenticeships.

Each year West Thames College trains thousands of adults. Courses include:

  • FREE courses for adults to help you brush up on your maths or English
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
  • Access to Higher Education courses to prepare you for further study
  • Professional accountancy and computing
  • Beauty therapy, hairdressing and makeup
  • Counselling
  • Motor vehicle maintenance
  • Construction
  • Teacher training.

Our lecturers are industry experts as well as being qualified teachers, who will give you the extra support and encouragement you need to succeed.

Some courses require a fee. We offer financial assistance and guidance on loans. See our financial support page.

We offer a range of courses for adults that will help you to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to further your career or progress on to higher level study.  From this September many of our courses will be FREE for adults depending on your personal circumstances.

Free courses include:

English and Maths GCSE and Functional Skills
FREE for students aged 19+ who does not already hold grade C/4 or above at GCSE in English and maths

Essential Digital Skills
This course provides support for adult learners in developing modern digital skills for everyday life. Learn how to make the most of your mobile phone, apps and other digital services. FREE for students aged 19+

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
FREE if in receipt of certain benefits or earning less than £21,157.50 annual gross salary*

You may also be eligible for FREE courses at Entry Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3

Free for students aged 19-23
Free for students aged 24+ who are unemployed or meet low wage criteria*

Level 2 courses
Free for students aged 19-23 who do not already have a full Level 2 or above qualification**
Free for students aged 24+ who are unemployed or meet low wage criteria*

Level 3 courses
Free for students aged 19-23 who do not already have a full L3 or above qualification**

National Skills Fund Level 3 Offer
In addition to the above, many of our Level 3 courses for adults are FREE if you meet the eligibility criteria. These courses will be FREE for students aged 19+ who have no prior Level 3 qualifications
