4.5 planting tree group 2000
To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, the Student Experience team organised a massive celebration in the atrium last Wednesday displaying the Jubilee spirit in full swing at our College. Later that day, a symbolic tree planting ceremony was also held as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

The atrium was full of fun games and activities with plenty of food, complete with a Victoria sponge cake featuring the English flag on top. DJ D-Zine was on hand to provide the tunes throughout the celebrations alongside some of our dance students showcasing their amazing talent.

Students took part in a variety of competitions, battling one another on enormous wooden Jenga and ring toss! The fun never stops!

Face painting was also delivered by our hair and beauty students which was very much in demand as they were keen to have the British flag proudly displayed alongisde the flag of their cultural background.

We concluded the day with a tree planting ceremony, as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. The plaque used to commemorate this occasion is of symbolic significance as it is made by veterans, and 100% of sale proceeds go on to fund the RBLI's work to support veterans and those with disabilities.

Principal Tracy Aust and Executive Director Michael Michaelides planted this tree on Wednesday 25th May alonsgside our lovely Governors. Also giving us a helping hand on the day were some very excited and hard-working pre-schoolers from our on-site Nursery. They were learning about the Jubilee while playing their own part in making it a memorable day for all involved.

This tree will be enjoyed by students and staff for years to come!
