Students at West Thames College showcased their talent and creativity at the college’s annual Hair and Beauty Competition, held just before the end of half term. The much-anticipated event brought together learners from across a range of courses and levels, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills, professionalism and artistic flair in front of industry judges.
Kate McGill, CQTM in Hair and Beauty, praised the high standard of work on display. She said: “We are incredibly proud of all the participants and winners who showcased exceptional skill and creativity throughout the competition. Events like this are vital for education, as they inspire growth, encourage innovation, and nurture the next generation of talent in the industry.”
The competition was judged by a panel of experienced professionals, including Evan Demetriou, salon owner of Grade1 in Hampton and a barbering teacher; Maggie Harris, a former West Thames College teacher; and Alex Hardy of Wonderful Life/Milkshake. Their expertise and insight provided valuable feedback and encouragement to students preparing to enter the hair and beauty sector.
Commenting on the event, Evan said: “It’s truly inspiring to see the creativity and passion demonstrated by all participants, and we are confident that the future of our industry is in very capable hands.”
